Ink uses fractal patterns of blown ink alluding to river formations. Using compressed air on a smooth acrylic substrate, the ink becomes animated. Each drawing is hung in succession, while the video of the drawing being made is projected through the layers, giving the illusion of depth and sense of being submerged underwater. The video projection conversely creates a distorted refection on the wall behind the drawings. The relationship between process, product and bi-product are questioned.

_____Katie Caron graduated summa cum laude from Boston University in 2000, and received an MFA in ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2009. Her work has been in national exhibitions such as Breakdown at Guggenheim Gallery: Chapman University, California, Reinventing Beauty at the Museum of New Art: MONA, Michigan, Elastic Authenticity at the Morean Art Center in St. Petersburg, Florida, and Overthrown: Clay Without Limits, at the Denver Art Museum, Colorado. Caron is presently an Assistant Professor in Fine Arts & Art Education at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design, and a member of RedLine. She lives with her husband and daughter in Lafayette, CO.
